Luis Aragonés could make good on his promise to name Bojan Krkic in Spain's squad for next week's friendly against France in order to ward off Serbia.
The Barcelona striker is eligible to play for both countries as he has dual nationality and both have made claims towards him representing them. Krkic has played for Spain at almost every junior level, but Serbia still remain hopeful of persuading him to represent his father's country. But Aragonés is now said to be ready put paid to that idea by calling up th 17-year-old and giving him a few minutes in the match against the French in Málaga next week. "He's only 17 but he has made extraordinary progress. He's got quality, an eye for goal and could be a great player," Aragones told AS. "We might call him up now. My idea is that he comes in now to stop him going to another national team. "He's an extraordinary lad and we've been nurturing him through all the youth categories in the national set-up." After Barça B were relegated to the fourth tier of Spanish football at the end of last season, Krkic was made a permanent member of the first team squad to stop him considering leaving. Despite not having shone this term, he has shown more than enough to convince Frank Rijkaard and now Aragonés that he is a star in the making. |
