Barça are playing Zaragoza away tonight (22.00, TV3, La Sexta and Radio Barça) in a match where the team really needs to pick up all three points to stay in touch with Real Madrid at the top of the table.

The Champions League is back next Wednesday when Barça will take on Celtic in Glasgow, but before that they have a vital League match in Zaragoza this evening. After drawing away at Seville, Barça need to continue their fight back in La Romareda. The second half performance last weekend in the Sánchez Pizjuán and the return of key players means the side is in good shape for one of the toughest away games of the season. They will also be motivated, as when the game kicks off they will know whether they can cut the 8 point advantage held by Madrid who are playing at 8 pm away at Betis.

Welcome returns

This week has been one of the few with no midweek fixture. The break has been good for Puyol, Deco and Bojan who have recovered from injury and been called up along with Touré Yaya, away since 5 January at the African Cup of Nations. The other Barça player who was at the tournament, Samuel Eto’o’, will be missing due to a thigh strain. Other players on the treatment table are Oleguer, Zambrotta, Sylvinho, Ezquerro and Jorquera.

Milito against Milito

One of the attractions of the duel is Gaby Milito’s return to the ground where he played during the last four seasons. He’ll be going head-to-head with his brother Diego, Zaragoza’s leading goalscorer with 14. The older Milito and his striking partner Oliveira, who is doubtful for this evening’s game, are one of the most lethal combinations in the League.

A lot to play for

While Barça cannot afford to drop any more points if they want to continue with their title challenge, Zaragoza also need to win to get closer to the European qualifying slots. That’s what Jabo Irureta, Zaragoza’s third coach this season, is aiming for. Changes on the bench are a sign of the uneven season Zaragoza are having, especially away from home as their results in La Romareda are pretty good. In fact Barça will be attempting to become only the second team after Valladolid to win there this season.
